RARITAN TWP., NJ - Lou Reiner was re-elected to Township Committee today and will be joined fellow Republican Gary Hazard. They defeated Democrat Joyce Santos for the two, three-year open seats.

Hazard was the top vote getter with 4,679 votes, or about 38 percent of the total. Reiner received 4,355 votes, or about 35 percent. Santos trailed with 3,201 votes of the 12,279 votes cast. The total includes 44 write-in votes.

In a way, Hazard was also re-elected. He previously served on the Committee, having been appointed to replace Committeeman Richard O'Malley after he resigned in 2011. Hazard was then elected to the post later that year.

Township voters overwhelmingly approved a bond ordinance to buy a new ambulance for the first aid squad to replace an existing 19-year old ambulance. The vote was 5,411 in favor - or more than 77 percent of the total. Only 1,601 voters opposed the borrowing.

For a seat on the Flemington-Raritan School District Board of Education, Susan Mitcheltree won the one, three-year seat on the board, defeating Robyn Fatooh, 3,039 to 1,953, a nearly 20 percent margin of victory.

For the one, three-year seat on the Hunterdon Central High School Board of Education, incumbent Kathryn Raborn seems to have defeated challenger Scott Nicol by just 91 votes. Raborn received 2,493 votes, or 50.64 percent of the total, to Nicol's 2,402 votes.
