Roller Provides the Polish for Kubiak's Gem

BRIDGEWATER, NJ- The Somerset Patriots (14-12, 56-40) shut out the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (11-16, 49-47) 1-0 at TD Bank Ballpark on yesterday evening.

Kyle Roller provided the Patriots and starting pitcher David Kubiak (5-8) all the offense they needed with a solo home run (15) in the second inning.

Kubiak pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out seven batters to earn the win.

“I made some pitches when I had to, but putting up seven zeroes, I would take that any day of the week,” said Kubiak. “My breaking ball has been good. That’s really what got me through tonight.”

Gaby Hernandez (8-2) suffered the loss, allowing an earned run on three hits and seven strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched.

Ronnie Shaban closed out the game to earn his ninth save of the season.

The 2017 Somerset Patriots Season will continue at home tonight with a 7:05 p.m. game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. The game features a post-game fireworks show. For tickets, visit

There are those of us in Hunterdon County that are still without power almost one week past the first storm. JCP&L has repeatedly changed the time and date of restoration. The spokesman flat-out lied to you when he said all 10,000 customers in Hunterdon would have power restored by Wednesday at 10:30 p.m.
