FLEMINGTON, NJ - The East Brunswick softball team scored all its runs in the fifth inning and held on for a 4-3 victory over Hunterdon Central in the semfinal round of the Central Jersey, Group 4 state tournament yesterday.

Ashli Venokur and Allie Warren each singled in a run and Megan Kelliher hit a two-run double for East Brunswick (21-6) in the top of the fifth inning. Warren finished with four hits and Venokur went 3-for-4 in the victory.

Winning pitcher Kaleigh Dwyer scattered five hits and allowed three runs - just one earned - in seven innings. Hunterdon Central rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but with the tying run on second base, Dwyer retired the final batter on a fly out to left fielder Gina Morrison.

East Brunswick will host Hightstown Friday afternoon in the sectional final at a time to be announced.
