Star-Spangled Weekend: Patriots Host Post-Game Holiday Fireworks

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The atmosphere will be electric, and the skies bursting with pyrotechnics as the Somerset Patriots celebrate Independence Day with a Star Spangled Weekend.

The Atlantic League champion Patriots will play all three games against the Bridgeport Bluefish. Gates open at 6 p.m. for all three games. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. 

The first half of the 2016 season concludes with the Sunday, July 3 game; the Patriots and Long Island Ducks are locked in a see-saw, down-to-the-wire race for the Atlantic League’s Liberty Division Championship.

The holiday weekend kicks off today with the Patriots’ annual Rutgers Night. Fans can meet the Knights’ head football coach, Chris Ash. It’s also Ninja Turtle Night with appearances by Leonardo and Donatello, who will be taking pictures on the concourse with fans during the game. Fans will also be able to enjoy $1 hot dogs all game long.

Tomorrow features the first of two post-game fireworks displays, presented by Bill Leary AC & Heating.

The Patriots weekend concludes with a second fireworks show on Sunday as part of a patriotic celebration with Operation Shoebox New Jersey. The Patriots players and coaches will be wearing special jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game with all proceeds supporting US troops serving overseas.

There will also be a pre-game autograph session presented by the Somerset County Park Foundation; After the game, kids get to run the bases in The Beez Foundation Diamond Derby.

The Patriots start the second half of the season July 4 on the road with a three-game series vs. the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs; the team returns home for a weekend series against the Lancaster Barnstormers on Friday, July 7.
