FLEMINGTON, NJ – A report of a suspected gunman and shooting victim at Hunter Hills Apartments here led to the arrest of two borough men.
The incident was reported to police around 4:48 a.m. Sunday. Flemington police dispatched to the scene were told that the suspected gunman was in a home at the apartment complex, according to a press release from Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III.
“It was later determined the victim was not wounded by a gunshot but was involved in an argument with two men and was physically assaulted,” Kearns said in the statement. The male victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick by helicopter.
As a result of the investigation, Maynor R. Dominguez, 29, was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated assault; fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon; and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Oscar A. Dominiguez, 26, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree simple assault. The men were lodged in Somerset County Jail.
The press release was issued jointly by Kearns, his Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski and Flemington Borough Police Chief Jerry Rotella. The investigation was by detectives from the Prosecutor’s Office and Flemington Police.
“To ensure the safety of our citizens and emergency responders, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office SWAT team was dispatched to the scene and the suspects were safely taken in to custody,” Kearns added.
Readington Township police, Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad and the Hunterdon County Office of Emergency Management responded and assisted at the scene.
