Thank You Voters

To the editor:

Thank you to the voters for electing me to the Flemington-Raritan Board of Education. It is an honor to have your trust and to represent Raritan Township in this position.

I look forward to working with the other Board of Education members to continue to move our district forward in a positive manner and I will continue to be a voice for you, the people of Raritan Township.

We have much work to do and I am anxious to get started. Throughout this campaign, I have had the opportunity to speak with so many of my fellow townspeople about the issues that are important to you and to me. From the seniors I have spoken with about education funding and the effects on our property taxes, to the moms and dads who shared their concerns and excitement about the future and the teachers and administrators who have shared with me the challenges and rewards they face on a daily basis as the front line in our district, to each of you and all voters, I say "thank you!" Throughout this campaign, it was evident that while we may all be at different points in our life journey, our care and concern for our children, our teachers and our district was shared by all.

I look forward to continuing the dialogue we started, and I am humbled and grateful for being given this opportunity to share my passion for education as a member of the Flemington-Raritan Board of Education. Thank you for your support, encouragement and for taking the time to vote in this election.

Sue Mitcheltree, Raritan Township

An Election Won, But at What Cost?

November 17, 2017

To the editor:

Prior to the Nov. 7 elections, I wrote to congratulate Delaware Township committee candidates on running a clean race. Unfortunately, the seemingly earnest guarantee made to me by one Republican candidate turned out to be an empty promise. Less than a week before the election, the Republican candidates used the same sleazy tactic they had employed in the 2014 election, when they ...
