FLEMINGTON, NJ – The heavy rain and high winds that swept across Hunterdon last night has knocked out power to thousands of customers across the county, Jersey Central Power & Light is reporting.
The company is showing that about 2,600 of its customers – or more than 4 percent – are without power this morning.
The outages don’t seem to be concentrated in any one area, but are dotted across Hunterdon. It isn’t clear how long it will be before power is restored, because many locations that are without power are still awaiting crews to be dispatched to them.
On social media, JCP&L is reporting that it expects “power will be restored to the majority” of its central NJ customers tonight.
The utility asks that those without power not rely on their neighbors to report the outage. Instead, call 888-544-4877, text “OUT” to 544487, or report the outage online.
