GLEN GARDNER, NJ - The powerhouse Somerville High School football team continues to dominate its opponents, with its latest victim, Voorhees High School, failing to score against the Pioneers, who piled up 47 points against the Vikings to increase its record to 3-0 on the season.
So far this season, the Pioneers have outscored their opponents 147-19. In Week One Somerville beat the Hamilton West Hornets 44-6 and in Week Two, crushed the North Plainfield Canucks, 56-13.
Quarterback Justin Brenner threw for two touchdowns and 212 yards on 11-20 passing, with Ethan Hillman making three receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown. Brenner also targeted Kyree Hinton, who pulled in four passes for 63 yards and a touchdown.
Cookie Desiderio ran for 87 yards and scored one touchdown, with running mate Deondre Gadson adding 86 yards and two touchdowns.
The Pioneers stingy defense was led by Will McIntyre, who recorded seven tackles against the Vikings.
After winning their home opener against West Hamilton, the Pioneers hit the road, winning their away games against North Plainfield and Voorhees. The road trip continues Sept. 27 when the Pioneers travel to Cranford, and the week following, Oct. 5 against Summit, before returning home for an Oct. 11 game against Warren Hills.
