FLEMINGTON, NJ – A partnership that includes the county’s United Way and dozens of local businesses is sponsoring a week-long town-wide health campaign.
“Vamos Flemington - Let’s Get Healthy!” is designed for people of all backgrounds and fitness levels and will begin Saturday, April 27. “Vamos” is Spanish for “let’s go.”
The April 27 kick-off will be a street fair held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 20 Fulper Rd. It will include free health screenings, interactive games for adults and children and free healthy snacks.
After that, everyone is invited to track and earn points for their healthy activities. Points can be earned for activities like walking or bicycling, or they can be earned by participating in one or more of the dozens of free activities offered by Flemington businesses, such as yoga, barre and Pilates classes, essential oil workshops, massage and acupuncture.
Taking advantage of the free offerings does not require registration in the Health Challenge.
Those who register for the Health Week Challenge are eligible to receive prizes and awards based on the number of minutes engaged in healthy activities and the corresponding level of exertion. Prizes and awards will be distributed at United Way of Hunterdon’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on Saturday, May 4, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Turntable Junction.
