FLEMINGTON, NJ – Aficionados of what many consider the only true American sports car got an eyeful of the fiberglass- and carbon fiber-bodied cars at yesterday’s Flemington Car show on Stangl Road here.
Although the show was open to all makes, models and years of cars, trucks and motorcycles, the Corvettes took center stage.
The Corvettes included those that were completely factory original to those with extensive customizing that included “scissor” doors. Body styles included everything from the original style to the very latest, with the exception of the new mid-engine ‘Vette that General Motors introduced last month.
Cars on display included some that were spotless and immaculate, and others that were proudly well-traveled.
Unusual cars included a Chevrolet Vega wagon, whimsically outfitted Dodge van, and a rare Cadillac XLR, which shared a platform with the Corvettes of its era.
The next Flemington car Show is Saturday, Aug. 17. It will feature British invasion and other foreign cars but as always, all makes, models and years of cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and the show – which also includes music, food and face painting – starts at 5:30.
