RARITAN TWP., NJ – The fourth annual Raritan Township Community Day is underway now at Lenape Park on Route 523 here.
The fun continues until 5 p.m.
New this year are a mini car show and two massive super-fun inflatables: a 95’ Radical Run Obstacle Course and a 22’ Cliff Hanger Slide. Eats and beverages are being served up at several food trucks and food vendors.
Other activities include a dunk tank, hula hoop contest, a robotics demonstration, cornhole, kids' sand art, kids' face-painting and “tattoos” and a Golf Cart Driving Skill Test.
The Golf Cart test doesn’t really test your skill with a golf cart. Instead, it’s a program sponsored by township police to demonstrate the dangers of texting. While texting and driving the cart through an obstacle course, a drone records video that shows just how dangerous the practice is.
DJ and emcee Mike Aversano of Showoff Productions is spinning the tunes and introducing the entertainment, including NJ Womensong, cheerleading exhibitions by Junior Red Devils, Hunterdon Central, and Flemington Falcons, and a performance by the Hunterdon Central Dance Team.
Demonstrations include two controlled burns by the Raritan Township Fire Company and an extrication by the Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad.
Fire, rescue, police and public works vehicles are on display. More than 40 local non-profits are participating to make this event even bigger and better with games and giveaways, including free “Raritan Township” magnets.
