FLEMINGTON, NJ—Sandra “Sandy” Borucki participated in her final meeting of the Flemington-Raritan Regional Board of Education Monday evening, after having represented Flemington Borough for the past six years.

The retired district administrative assistant of 23 years, who ran in the recent November election unopposed, received flowers as parting gifts from the board upon her expected departure. She announced her resignation from the board during the reorganization meeting in early January.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with all of you, most of you have been here the whole six years that I’ve been here," she said. "It’s been a pleasure to work with the community, and all of our staff members, a lot of whom I still know well and others are so new that I have no clue who they are anymore.”

Borucki said she hopes to do some more traveling, as well as become more involved in some local government committees, after previously serving on borough council for 15 years.

“I just figured six years was long enough, and I have other things that I want to get involved in,” she said.

Borucki has been a Flemington resident since 1971. This April will mark her 49th year in town.

“The board of ed thanks her very much for her service to the board and community, and wish her all the best in the future,” said board president Tim Bart.

The board is now accepting resumes and cover letters for interested candidates until 4 p.m. Friday, as members expect to interview candidates at its next meeting Feb. 10. Presuming there are candidates, the board could decide to appoint Borucki’s replacement that same evening.

According to the district website, the term of the appointment would run until Dec. 31, 2020, and the position will be up for election in November. The board of education is comprised of nine volunteer members, with two being from Flemington Borough and seven being from Raritan Township.

Candidates should mail a resume and cover letter to Flemington-Raritan Regional School District Board of Education, attn: Mrs. Linda Benz, 50 Court Street, Flemington, NJ 08822 or via email to lbenz@frsd.k12.nj.us.
