  • The Flemington Borough Candidate Forum will be Tuesday, October 27th, at 7 pm.

  • The Raritan Township Candidate Forum will be Wednesday, October 21st, at 7 pm.

Each Candidate Forum will take place over Zoom, and be streamed live over Facebook Live on the TAPinto Flemington/Raritan page.

  • Candidate Forum Guidelines:
  • Opening Statements: After a coin flip, each candidate will get 90 seconds to make an opening statement - each side getting a total of three minutes.  The winners of the coin flip will get the choice to give opening remarks first or second. [Closing remarks will be in reverse order].
  • There will be several rounds of questions as time permits, in the following manner:
  • Candidates A have a total of up to three minutes to answer each question and may split up that time in whichever way they wish.
  • Candidates B have a total of up to two minutes for a rebuttal and may split up that time in whichever way they wish.
  • Candidates B have a total of up to three minutes to answer each question and may split up that time in whichever way they wish.
  • Candidates A have a total of up to two minutes for a rebuttal and may split up that time in whichever way they wish.
  • This patterned question format will continue with each side alternating in answers and rebuttals. Most often in a candidate forum, there is time for six to ten questions.
  • Closing Statements: Each candidate will get 90 seconds to make a closing statement. Closing statements will be in reverse order of opening statements.
  • Moderator has the discretion to ask questions of clarification of candidates and allow candidates to have 5 seconds leeway to finish their thoughts.
  • The timekeeper will use three color-coded time cards: Green for one-minute warning; Yellow 15 seconds; Red for times up.

The moderator for each Candidate Forum will be Steve Chernoski, a teacher, writer, and film director of “New Jersey: the Movie”, an award-winning documentary. Mr. Chernoski has moderated candidate forums for the US House of Representatives, the State Legislature, and Gubernatorial races. He resides with his family in Lambertville.

The Candidate Forums are for election informational purposes only, and TAPinto Flemington/Raritan will be making no endorsements in either race.

TAPinto is a network of more than 75 independently owned and operated local news websites in New Jersey with TAPinto Flemington/Raritan averaging almost 90,000 pageviews and 35,000 users per month. Locally, this is a good way to reach out to the Flemington and Raritan communities given the current outreach challenges caused by COVID19.

Residents are invited to submit questions for candidates, and the video of the Candidate Forum will be available on social media for viewing.

Please submit questions to jnovick@tapinto.net. Questions should pertain to issues important to our local community, and the qualifications, experience, and plans of the candidates.
