FLEMINGTON, NJ - The Flemington Area Food Pantry’s 23rd Annual Empty Bowl luncheon will be on Friday, Nov. 8 at St. Magdalen’s Church here.

The Empty Bowl is the Pantry’s major fundraising event each year. The Pantry and its 220 volunteers provide groceries and personal care items to approximately 1,500 needy families in Hunterdon.

For a $30 donation, attendees will enjoy a delicious lunch consisting of a choice of soup provided by local restaurants, salad and desert, and take home a hand-crafted bowl donated by area potters to serve as a reminder of food insecurity in Hunterdon.

Last year, Pantry volunteers exceeded previous Empty Bowl records, serving lunches to 600 attendees.

This year the soups are provided by Basil Bandwagon Natural Market, Chive and Thyme Cafe and Catering, Dockside Grill, Lovin’ Oven, Matt's Red Rooster Grill, Metropolitan Seafood Company, ShopRite of Flemington Kitchen, and Theresa's Café.

“One of the joys of this event for the volunteers of the Pantry is spending the day with the community which has always been so supportive of the Pantry’s mission,” said Event Chair Karen Holmes in a press release.

St. Magdalen’s is located at 105 Mine St. Empty Bowl hours are 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Empty Bowl tickets can be purchased at the door, at the Pantry during the Pantry’s regular hours, or on the Pantry’s website with a credit card or PayPal.
