FLEMINGTON, NJ – A court appearance set for this afternoon regarding trespass charges at the Union Hotel has been postponed, according to the court administrator.

George Eckelman, Richard Giffen, Steve Romanowski and Gary Schotland were charged by police, who said the charges stem from a video that was posted to social media, leading borough construction official Jeff Klein to alert them.

The video has since been taken down from Facebook.

Police investigated and said the video’s purpose was to inspect the hotel’s interior and while inside, discussions were made to post a video “to inform the public on the condition of the building.” However, no one was properly hired to complete the task, according to police.

Each of the four have hired an attorney to represent them, the court administrator said. Their appearance has been rescheduled to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 26.

The appearance will be in Flemington Municipal Court, which is located in Raritan Township in its municipal complex on Route 523, just off the Route 12 traffic circle.
