READINGTON, NJ - For many adults, sack races and tug-of-war are fond reminders of their childhood or activities their children get to enjoy.

Now, the Y is bringing them back.

The Hunterdon County YMCA will host Hunterdon’s first Ultimate Field Day for Adults on Saturday, Sept.21.

Ultimate Field Day is a throwback event, built with adults in mind. Similar events have been held in Washington DC, Philadelphia, and Atlanta, and now you can experience the Hunterdon County version. It’s an opportunity for adults to relax and enjoy a nostalgic time over classic grade school games such as sack races, tug-of-war, relay races, and an obstacle course with a twist, while supporting the community.

In addition to the lawn fun, the event will include an after party at Lone Eagle Brewing in Flemington (21 and over).

Ultimate Field Day will be a team event for adults 18 and older, and will be held at the Deer Path Branch of the HCY from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Teams will be broken into two divisions: Corporate and Social/Community. Each team will consist of six participants, with one participant assigned as the Team Captain. There is no gender ratio required, but co-ed teams are strongly encouraged.

Teams will earn points at each of the eight game stations, and prizes will be awarded at the end of the day.

Individuals are encouraged to grab their friends, start a team, join as a group, and get ready for the ultimate day of fun and games.

Known for their sports programs for children, the Y believes adults need to have fun, too. The Y also believes that everyone in the community should have the opportunity to benefit from YMCA programs and services. This event combines both, by bringing the games from your childhood back to you and supporting the Y Financial Assistance Program. When someone loses a job, when medical bills become overwhelming, or when other challenging situations occur, people need the support of the Y’s Financial Assistance Program.

Local businesses can participate by sponsoring Corporate Teams as well as corporate sponsorship options. It’s a great way to promote your business, encourage team building within your staff, and support your community.
