HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ - Hunterdon County Sheriff Fred Brown is warning residents against scammers who are making fraudulent CDC claims, according to a release from the county.
Brown said in the release that residents should be wary of individuals who may be going door to door trying to enter homes by claiming to be from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, checking for COVID-19.
"The CDC is not deploying teams of people going door to door asking questions about COVID-19," Brown said in the release. "If an individual claims to be a representative from the CDC, do not let them into your home or speak with them. They are imposters."
Anyone approached by someone claiming to be from the CDC should immediately contact the sheriff's office at 908-788-1166, or the local police department.
