SOMERVILLE, NJ – Jimmy Boone and a few of his girlfriends – campy, extravagant drag queens -  will strut their stuff and join in the fun during the May 16 Girls Night Out in downtown Somerville.

From sharp stiletto heels to sharp tongues, over-the-top wigs, eye makeup with exacting standards, and stunning wardrobes, the queens are all represented by Boone’s company, Drag Queen Entertainment. Based in south Jersey, they work the circuit performing at theaters, private parties and other venues.

For the uninitiated, drag queens are performance artists, almost always male, who dress in women's clothing and adapt exaggerated femininity as part of their act.

Meet the girls, with remarks provided by Boone:

Astala Vista

“The Claws are coming out with this Cat Lady. Astala is known for her campy performances and impeccable costuming! Big hair, stiletto nails, and 6-inch heels are a MUST for this Jersey girl.

“In addition to her kitty self, Astala hosts 4 of her own monthly shows throughout the tristate area and has audiences in cackles with her comedic and interactive numbers!  Astala loves pairing beloved characters with hilarious concepts that get the audience roaring.

Anita Manhattan

When Anita Manhattan hits the stage, it’s clear you're dealing with a true classic soul! After winning Philadelphia Drag Wars - a 12-week long Drag Queen competition in the style of RuPauls Drag Race in 2016, Anita has continued to entertain audiences with her eclectic style and powerful stage presence.

She uses her knowledge of Broadway, Burlesque, and pop culture to create an over the top nostalgic performance that can entertain all crowds. From her flawless vintage costuming, to her campy props and amazing reveals, Anita knows the perfect recipe to leave the audience in awe.

Vinchelle

t's no surprise why Vinchelle took home 2017 Drag Queen of the Year in Philadelphia. She's a multi-talented performer whose career has skyrocketed since she moved to the city of brotherly love. Originally from Nashville, TN, Vinchelle moved to the Philadelphia to receive her Bachelors Degree in Theatre from the University of Arts, as well as to pursue her dreams as an entertainer.

After winning Philadelphia Drag Wars back in 2015, Vinchelle very quickly made a name for herself in the local Drag Scene and was headlining shows within the year. This self-proclaimed “Tribal Queen” combines comedy and dancing to bring a fierce and friendly energy to the room that leaves you wanting so much more! From singing, to dancing, to comedy, Vinchelle is a triple threat and isn't shy about showing it.
