Chabad of Hunterdon will be hosting a community Purim Party themed The Incredible Purim Superhero Edition, acreative twist to this year’s community celebration of Purim. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite Superhero costume. The festivities will be held at The Beaver Brook Country Club on Wednesday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome

The Purim party will feature as seen on America's Got Talent Laser & Light LED Robot Show, Mask Decorating, DJ and Dancing, Cookies for Cops, Epic Purim Rap Battle, Megillah Reading, Costume Contest and a Gourmet Dinner.

Billed as the most joyous date on the Jewish calendar, the daylong holiday commemorates the nullification of a Persian decree calling for the extermination of the Jewish people as recorded in the biblical Book of Esther. Chabad’s original spin on this age-old holiday has helped bring the spirit of Purim to Hunterdon year after year.

"It combines ancient Jewish traditions with a modern twist," said Rabbi Eli Kornfeld. "We focus on doing interesting and innovative programs that will maximize the enjoyment for young and old alike, yet still keeping with the holiday theme".

The event is a community-wide program, and all are welcome to join, regardless of affiliation or background. Participants will enjoy freshly baked Hamantashen, and a fully catered Purim feast.

In addition, the celebration will feature and child-friendly reading of the Book of Esther, known in Hebrew as the Megillah, where participants can hunt for hidden pictures projected on the screen, as the story is read.

In the spirit of Purim, participants are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Superhero figure themed costume and there will be a competition for the most authentic, innovative, or funny entries.
