Classic Cars Could Be Destined for Main Street Somerville

EDISON, NJ – From hot rods to hot pink, Bodnar’s Auctions will host a red carpet sale of classic and vintage cars at the New Jersey Home Show at the New Jersey Convention & Expo Center in Raritan Center on  Saturday, ,March 11 beginning at 5 p.m.

Bodnar suggests that at least a few of these classics will wind up in Somerville on Friday nights along with all the other classic cars that owners display along Main Street during the summer.

A total of 7 cars and a motorcycle are featured in the select sale, according to Bodnar. Each of the vehicles come from estates that Bodnar has liquidated over the past year.

The sale opens with  a 1930 Chrysler Roadster Model 66, 2-door with rumble seat, 2-tone yellow and black with a manual transmission. The car appears to be original. The car has been sitting in a garage for the past 5 years being started once every six months. Clean title, estimate is $18,000-$28,000. Opening bid $10,000.

Lot 2, from the same estate as the 1930 Chrysler is 1976 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, white with tan interior, with t-tops, purchased from the original owner in 2004. Garage kept, in running order, this car has also been sitting for the past 5 years only getting started several times a year. It has 113,937 miles with matching numbers. Automatic with an upgraded stereo system. Clean title, estimate $8,000-$12,000. Opening Bid $4,000.

Lot 3 is a 1988 red Chevy Camaro. This car has been sitting for about a year, turns over and runs well. Odometer reads 93,695 miles, clean title. Estimate is $3,000-$5,000. Bidding will open at $100. There is no reserve on this car, and will be sold to the highest bidder.

Lot 4 is a 1959 Ford Edsel Ranger, one of only 30,000 produced that year in Detroit, Two tone, pink or salmon, the car is clean clean and ready to drive around town or to classic car shows. Desirable 2-door model runs great. Has original 61,953 miles Estimate is $4,000-$6000. There is no reserve on this car; it will be sold to the highest bidder. Bidding opens at $1,000.

Lot 5 is a 2002 Harley Davidson Soft Tail Deuce Special Edition, number 110 in a limited production run of 150. Custom factory paint job, soft orange with flames, stage-2 screaming eagle kit, Corbin custom seat, extreme front wheel with loads of extras with only 4126 miles. Ready for the road. Estimate is $6,000-$9,000. Opening bid is $4,000.

Lot 6 is a “Frankenstein” 1972 and 1931 Ford convertible Roadster Hot Rod kit car, custom made by Classic in West Palm Beach Fla. With a Ford 302 V8 motor and 3-speed stick on the floor; shows 35,342 miles. This car comes from an Absecon estate and was a shore around town car that was pampered and garage kept. One-of-a-kind street rod.  Estimate is $10,000-$15,000. Opening bid is $5,000.

Lot 7 is a 1985 Mercedes 380-SL convertible,  an estate find from the Manasquan area from a woman who just drove it around town and to the beach. Immaculate condition, car shows  136,283 miles. Estimate is $7,000-$10,000. Opening bid is $3,000.   

 Also on Saturday, Bodnar’s  will be selling an array of “backyard” toys: a 4-wheel Honda 2004 ATV with a 229CC motor and clean title; a Yamaha Warrior ATV, go-cart/dune buggy,  and other gas-powered toys.

 Beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 12, Bodnar’swill be selling a single-owner collection of NASCAR die-cast collectibles. This extensive collection features over 1,000 die-cast cars mint in their boxes. Limited Edition cars, cars autographed by the drivers, huge NASCAR jacket collection, many older rare cars, limited and low production cars, all makers will be represented as well as every driver.

Over 600 lots will be offered with all bids starting at $10.

Automobiles can be previewed on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4:55 p.m. Auction begins promptly at 5 p.m.
