Contemporary Video Art Show at RVCC Has an International Flair

BRANCHBURG, NJ - The Visual and Performing Arts Department at Raritan Valley Community College will host The Video Show: 4th International Exhibition of Video and Digital Media Installation, featuring contemporary work in video art, Feb. 20-March 10 in the campus Art Gallery.

A screening of all pieces will run continuously on Thursday, Feb. 23, starting at 10 a.m., followed by an Artists’ Talk from 5-6 p.m. and an opening reception from 6-7 p.m. All are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

The exhibition presents a wide range of contemporary video work, including poetic, abstract, documentary, and experimental pieces. Artworks are presented as projections, incorporated into sculptural installations, and are interactive with the audience through cameras and the Internet. A continuous loop screening of the videos will be shown during open gallery hours.

The show was juried by Lydia Grey of Somerville, a video/performance artist and adjunct instructor at RVCC; Kelly Oliver of Raritan, an adjunct instructor and multimedia specialist at RVCC; Darren McManus of Lambertville, a full-time instructor and gallery coordinator at RVCC; and Ann Tsubota of Pittstown, a full-time professor of art at RVCC.

Gallery hours are Mondays, 3-8 p.m.; Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; Wednesdays, 3-8 p.m.; Thursdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Fridays, 1-4 p.m. The gallery is located in the lower level of the College Center. For further information, contact the Visual and Performing Arts Department, 908-218-8876.
