County Vo-Tech Graduation, Somerset Resident Salutatorian

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A total of 161 students graduated Wednesday from the Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School, in 17 different vocational programs, ranging from automotive technology to the performing arts.

The Career and Technical Education Valedictorian for the class of 2017 is graphic communications student Daria Marini, of Bridgewater, and the Career and Technical Education Salutatorian is cosmetology student Kirsten Smith, of Somerset.

Valedictorians from the Academy for Health and Medical Sciences are Madalyn Arcurio, of Flemington; Stephanie Coppola, of Milford; Knushma Parekh, of Ringoes; and Emily Siniscalco, of Flemington. The salutatorian is Ruchi Patel, of Hillsborough.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Somerset Patriots sold the contract of right-handed pitcher Mitch Atkins to the New York Mets. He will report to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Atkins was 4-3 with a 4.06 ERA and 59 strikeouts over 62 innings pitched in 11 games started for Somerset this season.
