SOMERSET, NJ - The Franklin Boys Track and Field team was honored Tuesday night for their championship run this season with a ring ceremony at Franklin High School. 

This year Franklin won the Skyland Conference title, Somerset County title, Central Jersey, Group 4 title and capped off the season with a Group 4 state title win against East Orange, back in June. 

The title win was the first for the program in two decades.

Two months ago the Franklin Boys Track and Field team and head coach, made headlines on the state level, by being named NJ.com's track and field team of the year, and Dashawn Gourdine was named coach of the year. 

Gourdine thanked, school administrators, the coaching staff, the team and his wife in the video below:

FHS athletic director Ken Margolin also thanked, school administrators. Margolin also praised the coaching staff "as second to none."

Board of Education, president, Ed Potosnak spotlighted the importance of the good things that also take place in the classroom. 

The Franklin Booster Club partnered with Mezza Luna restaurant on Easton Avenue to provide dinner for attendees and was mentioned as a constant supporter of Franklin Township Public Schools.
