Franklin Food Bank Held 28th Annual Tour de Franklin Charity Bike Ride

SOMERSET, NJ - Hundreds of riders participated in the 28th annual Tour de Franklin Charity Bike Ride today to benefit the Franklin Food Bank.

As of the writing of this article, the Franklin Food Bank has surpassed its goal of $60,000, by raising $73,506 so far, according to their website.

Last year's ride raised over $78,000 for the Food Bank, according to an article on NJ.com.

This year marked the second in a row, the Tour de Franklin Charity Bike Ride used Franklin High School as the starting point. 

Riders and walkers of all experience levels had the opportunity to participate, with different riding/walking options, including the 62-mile, 40-mile, 25-mile, 10-mile, 1-to-5-mile walk or ride, and a 5-mile and 10-mile ride along the township's canal. 

The Tour de Franklin Charity Bike Ride is the Franklin Food Bank's largest fundraiser and critical part of the Food Bank's financial support, according to its website. 

All riders had the opportunity to raise various amounts to help support the food bank, a Silver Rider raised $150 and a Gold Rider raised $300, and both levels received special t-shirts as a sign of appreciation. 

If a rider raised $1000, they became a Titanium Rider and received a unique bicycle jersey with the Tour de Franklin logo.   

If you didn't have the opportunity to participate in the ride, there are many chances to help support your neighbors in need. 

Food donations can be dropped off at the delivery entrance on Battle Place off Millstone Road between the hours of 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. and until noon on Saturdays.

The Franklin Township Community/Senior Center, Shop Rite, or any of the three Stop & Shops in Franklin also have drop off locations open during business hours of each location.
