Franklin Township Baseball League Opening Day Ceremonies and Tribute Set for Saturday

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - The current forecast is calling for sunshine, so come out for the Franklin Township's Baseball Leagues Opening Day Ceremonies. 

"We would welcome the township residents to celebrate the beginning of our 64th season, as Franklin Township's longest running youth organization program," President of Franklin Township Baseball League, Chuck Turano said. 

Below is an outline of the ceremonies:

All teams in Tee-Ball, Coach Pitch, Minors and Majors70

8 - 8:15 am - Teams will arrive in full uniform with their team banners on the centerfield fence near the seniors' outfield grass

8:30 am - Each team will be announced, and run onto the majors' field outfield grass, just past the infield dirt.

8:45 am - Announcements will be made and a special guest will sing the National Anthem. Player sportsmanship code will be discussed, and township officials will be introduced. 

8:55 am - A special "Tribute" in memory of Andrew Russoniello will be dedicated to the Russoniello Family

According to their website, the Franklin Township, Baseball League is run entirely by volunteers to promote, develop, and supervise youth baseball. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

We have served the growing and diverse community of Somerset NJ since 1953 and provide organized youth baseball programs for over 600 children yearly, ranging in ages from 4 thru 18. The FTBL complex, located at 51 Dekalb Street, consists of five fields (Tee-Ball, Coach Pitch, Minors, Majors, and Senior), a small clubhouse, equipment sheds, 3 batting cages, and a Snack Shack area.

Bridgewater Police: Avoid Mall for Ongoing Police Investigation

UPDATE: According to a Nixle alert from the Bridgewater Township Police Department at 9 p.m., the investigation at the mall has been completed, and the mall will be resuming normal business operations.

Police emphasized that there is no immediate threat to the public and no injuries were reported.
