FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Councilwoman At-Large Kimberly Francois and Mayor Phillip Kramer awarded President of Grades4Life (G4L) Chris Johnson with a commendation for his relationship and involvement with the youth of Franklin Township.
"Being able to run the Grades4life program in a town that I also live in is not just an honor for our organization it's also something I take great pride in," Johnson said. "It means so much and says so much about our town to see them support a positive program for our youth."
G4L is a non-profit organization that focuses on encouraging students to succeed both socially and academically through a rewards program designed to help local businesses engage with the community. G4L uses its patented social rewards program featured on a mobile application to allow the community to get involved and help students succeed.
Students are able to upload their grades and positive social achievement into the application and earn points that can be redeemed for discounts and prizes from its business partners. Teachers are able to verify the grades uploaded by students and earn points as well.
Currently, G4L is working with schools in Franklin Township and East Orange, and have plans to expand to more districts this year. Johnson is also involved with Franklin's Youth Initiative that Francois is very active with.
“It is a very encouraging motivating program the schools seems to like it and I am hopeful that the pilot will not just go on this year, but will go on for future years,” Francois said. “So we really appreciate you and in honor of Black History Month thank you for being one of our black history heroes this month in Franklin Township.”
G4L's mission is to serve as a model for a focus on well-rounded youth and teachers by encouraging active participation in socially conscious causes and volunteerism. Through partnerships and collaboration, G4L is able to get everyone involved with helping youth to get a better grade for life.
