SOMERSET, NJ - A 77-year-old Piscataway man was rescued by members of the Franklin Township Police Department and Firefighters from the Franklin Township Office of Fire Prevention, according to police. 

At proximately 11:15 am on May 24, the Franklin Township Police Department received a report of a man in the water in the area of Amwell Road and Market Street, according to police. 

First responders used equipment from their vehicles and were able to pull the man to safety.

Police say, the unidentified elderly man told police he was, a Piscataway resident, and was fishing when he slipped and fell into the water.
