SOMERSET, NJ - Hundreds gathered at the Palace at Somerset Park Monday night for the 25th Anniversary of the Taste of Somerset.

“Taste of Somerset is unique because of the large number of restaurants and beverage providers that participate,” Executive Director of the PeopleCare Center, Marie Hughes said.  “It is a terrific experience for anyone who enjoys dining out, taking a lot of the guesswork out finding new places to try.”

For 25 years Taste of Somerset has served as one of Somerset Counties model fund-raising events, that has grown throughout the years.

Attendees had the chance to stroll around the Palace of Somerset Park to sample appetizers, entrees, desserts, and beverages from the more than 40 area restaurants from the region.

There was also a 50/50 contest and a raffle, with gifts for attendees, provided by the restaurants in attendance.

Piscataway residents John and Anne Kosco were one of the winners of the 50/50 contest, and have been coming to the event since its inception.

"We have been coming here since it started, back when it was on Route 206," Kosco said. "We like coming here to support a good cause."

Taste of Somerset has generated more than $400,000 for the PeopleCare Center, which is a private non-profit organization in Somerset County which provides a physical plant to house non-profit agencies and organizations at below market cost.

Among the restaurants and distributors in attendance this year are: CATB Liquor Import; Drewby’s Grill Pub; Gary’s Wine & Marketplace; Imperia Banquet Center; King’s Market; La Bonbonniere Bake Shoppes; Maggiano’s Little Italy; Martinsville Taverna; Nicastro Gourmet Products; Northside Lounge/Brooks Brewery; Saker Shop-Rites, Inc.; Savor Restaurant; Somerset County Vo-Tech; Uproot Restaurant; Verve Bar, Lounge & Bistro; and W.B.
