SOMERSET, NJ - The mayor and township council declared the month of June 2017, as PTSD Awareness Month in the Township of Franklin, on Tuesday during the council meeting.    

The proclamation was given to Team Red White and Blue, an organization dedicated to enriching the lives of America’s veterans "by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity."

According to the township's proclamation, 5.2 million adults experience PTSD during a given year and without treatment, PTSD can lead to alcohol and drug abuse, reliving the terror, heart attacks, depression, dementia, suicide, and stroke.
