SOMERSET, NJ - Police are investigating a Monday morning crash that sent a local juvenile to an area  hospital with serious injuries, according to a news release. 

The unidentified 11-year old was hit crossing Franklin Boulevard while walking to school, police say. The unidentified driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene and is cooperating with police. 

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, said in a news release, "the juvenile was crossing Franklin Boulevard westbound in or near the crosswalk, at the intersection of Holly Street when he was struck by a vehicle."

Detectives from Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (C.A.R.T.) also responded to the scene to conduct an investigation in conjunction with the Franklin Township Police Department. 

The juvenile victim, is listed in critical condition at the area hospital, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.
