SOMERSET, NJ - Who got the props? Franklin High School's administrative team is who.

The team published a video produced and directed by Michael Pinnix, FHS performing arts teacher, last Wednesday, it has gone viral with more than 4,000 views.

"It is attention-grabbing, FHS Principal, Frank Chmiel said. "Once we have the students’ attention, they can see positivity and how exciting educators are to be in their school and, to be working with each other. They will see team spirit and a positive culture."

According to staff, the purpose of the video is to help motivate the students and show them the human side of the school staff members.

"Our focus was to show students that school can be fun while learning and that we are regular people who care about them, FHS Vice Principal, Rebekah Solomon said. "What's the scenario, is true to our administrative focus for this year. We have a brand new team, but no one is really brand new and we are changing the scenario at FHS."

FHS Vice Principal, Ammon Barksdale says doing things like the video is a good way to help students see school staff in a different light.

"Makes us human and approachable," Barksdale said. "Provides a medium that students can directly relate to."

Some of the FHS academic departments are planning an interdepartmental Warrior Lip Synch Battle later this year, according to Chmiel.

"We have a world-class Aspects of Video Production program led by teacher Mike Pinnix," Chmiel said. "An interdepartmental lip synch battle will give the FHS Aspects student authentic learning experiences where they will be producing videos that have a direct positive impact on their school’s climate."

The video will be shown to students on their first day of school, Sept. 20, according to school staff.
