SOMERSET, NJ - Traffic delays on Demott Lane are expected this Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm due to Operation Secure Shred, according to officials. Operation Secure Shred will be held at the Franklin Community/Senior Center Parking Lot on 505 DeMott Lane.

The event is sponsored by the Somerset County Board of Freeholders, in cooperation with the county Division of Records Management.

Local residents are urged to use Amwell Road if they are planning to attend the weekly Community Farmers Market to avoid traffic congestion.

The township issued the following details for Operation Secure Shred:

Operation Secure Shred program, rain or shine. All shredding events are held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or until the trucks are filled to capacity, at which time they leave and the event is over for the day. 

Residents from all 21 Somerset County municipalities can have personal documents shredded at as many free, on-site mobile paper-shredding events as they wish to attend. Residents do not have to reside in the town hosting an event to participate. 

Documents are commercially shredded safely, privately, and properly by trained, licensed, and bonded document destruction specialists. Staples and paperclips do not have to be removed. Residents can bring documents in up to six boxes, containers, or bags per visit and may stay and watch as their documents are shredded. Residents will be asked to take back their receptacles.



The following recyclable items will not be accepted: junk mail, magazines and newspapers. The 2018 Recycling Collection Schedule and more are available at www.co.somerset.nj.us/recycle.

“Operation Secure Shred” events are free of charge for Somerset County residents; pre-registration is not required. However, materials cannot be accepted from businesses. A valid New Jersey driver's license to confirm Somerset County residency is required.
