Franklin Township: Police Investigate Suspicious Incident at Local School

SOMERSET, NJ - During a preplanned lockdown drill at Sampson G. School, a school security officer heard 3-5 loud bangs, she believed were gunshots, according to a news release.

Officers responded to the scene in the area of Amwell Road and Demott Lane to investigate the incident, according to police.

Officers did not find any evidence of gunshots or any other dangerous activity at the scene, according to police.

"It was determined that there was no actual threat to the school and the students were never in any danger," Lt. Phil Rizzo said in a news release.
