FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Sampson G. Smith students were approached by a Caucasian man in a car while they were walking to their bus stop this Wednesday, according to the district's website.
The website went on to say, the students were engaged in conversation and this made them feel uncomfortable so they ran.
“We remind our residents to maintain awareness of their surroundings and call the police immediately if they see something suspicious," Lt. Philip Rizzo said in an email to TAPinto Franklin Township.
Students were told of the incident when they arrived at school and the Franklin Township Police Department were also notified and will be looking into the incident, according to the district's website.
The district site is also encouraging parents/guardians to speak to children about the dangers strangers can pose. If parents are concerned they can contact their child's principal.
