SOMERSET, NJ - The highly anticipated spray park coming to Colonial Park will have its grand opening Spring 2019, according to Adam Bloom, Somerset County, principal engineer I.
Bloom says the delay is due to issues with permitting and utilities.
"Late August is looking unlikely at this point," Bloom told TAPinto. "There is potential for a soft opening in September, but the grand opening will be Spring 2019."
Required construction permits took longer than anticipated to acquire, but they are now in place according to Bloom.
The spray park itself will be approximately 6,500 square feet, while the total area for the park will be 1.6 acres, according to Bloom.
Additional space will include additional parking, pathway improvements and a gazebo, according to Bloom.
Plans for the spray park were approved during a December 2017 Somerset County Freeholder’s meeting, according to county meeting notes.
The West Orange-based company Abraham General Construction LLC won its bid and will be awarded $819,036 for the “Colonial Park Spray Park” project according to meeting notes.
Nine sealed bid responses were received opened and read during a public meeting on Dec. 5. According to county notes Abraham General Construction LLC came in with the lowest bid and met county specifications.
