SOMERSET, NJ - A local man has been charged with 18 counts of criminal mischief, disorderly person offense, and issued numerous summonses, according to a news release.

John A. Szucs, 23, of Somerset, struck 18 mailboxes on Jan. 13 with a 2003 Dodge Dakota pick-up truck and left the scene, police say. The incidents occurred in the area of Culver Street, 9th Street, 12th Street and John E. Busch Avenue, police say. 

Szucs was issued numerous motor vehicle summonses, such as reckless driving, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, failing to report a motor vehicle accident with property damage, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, police say.

“I am very proud of all of the officers that were involved in this case," Grammer said in a statement. "This investigation involved all three divisions of our department.  Through a cooperative team approach, our officers were able to bring this case to a successful conclusion.”

Police say Szucs has been scheduled to appear in the Franklin Township Municipal Court in the near future.
