FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - The township announced the winners of this year's "Take a Photo from a Trail Contest" today. The contest was sponsored by the Franklin Township Trails Advisory Committee (TAC) and was developed to promote trail use by township residents. 

According to promotional documents for the event, "Franklin Township trails have places that, when captured in a photo, could encourage others to get out and explore. To encourage expanded trail usage, the TAC is soliciting photographs taken from trails located in the township and will award a prize to the best photograph taken from each trail."

Duties of the Trails Advisory Committee include:

  1. identifying current and future trails interests and needs of the community;
  2. identifying trail opportunities and options during development review, and analyzing alternatives for maximum potential benefit;

  3. making recommendations to the Township Council on trail policies and design issues;

  4. making recommendations on acquisition and development of trail facilities, and trail use;

  5. conducting trail surveys for maintenance and safety recommendations;

  6. reviewing and commenting on public and private development actions to promote trails interests; and

  7. other related duties.
