Franklin Township to Host its 4th Annual Franklin Day Festival (UPDATE)

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - The township made the following announcement via its email list:

The 2017 Franklin Day Festival is currently looking for a few performance groups to participate in our cultural showcase at the 2017 Franklin Day Festival. Applications will be accepted immediately. SPOTS ARE LIMITED. The goal of the showcase is to create a diverse dance program representative of the multi-cultural citizenship of our Township.

If you are ready for some food, fun activities, and entertainment the wait is almost over, thanks to the 4th annual Franklin Day Festival, scheduled for Sept. 23 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Colonial Park. 

“Last year was a great success with 10,000 people attending this fabulous outdoor event," Councilwoman Rozalyn Sherman (D-Ward-2), founder, and coordinator of the event said.

This year’s event will feature exciting activities geared toward the entire family including live music, and dance performances showcasing Franklin’s diverse community.

More than 150 vendors are expected to attend, including 20 food trucks. A classic car show will be part of the myriad of totally free activities for the entire family.

The event will also include a vast array of activities for children such as a petting zoo, pony rides, bubble soccer, mini golf, games, municipal vehicles to explore and much more. 

The close of Franklin's Farmers Market season is also during the week of the festival, and there will be a few vendors selling their Jersey fresh produce and products. 

ArtWalk will also be featured for the first time this year, "showcasing  Franklin historical sites, student artwork- High School/Junior High School/Elementary School or artwork relating to FranklinTownship.  Art work will include photographs, paintings, drawings, quilting, woodworking, etc."
