SOMERSET, NJ - A man lost his life following a Dec. 17 crash, according to a news release.
Police received a 9-1-1 call on Dec. 17 at approximately 9:53 pm, reporting a pedestrian hit by a car on Amwell Road near Doria Road.
Police say upon arrival officers found an adult male unconscious and unresponsive.
"Officers initiated lifesaving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived on scene," police said in a news release. "The male was transported to a local area trauma center where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin."
The roadway was closed while a joint investigation was initiated by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau, police say.
The initial investigation revealed that Kia Sorento, operated by an unidentified local resident, was traveling eastbound when it struck the adult male who was attempting to cross the roadway. The factors that contributed to the crash are currently under investigation.
