Did you work hard to become a homeowner? Do you want to make sure you still have good credit and get a free tri-merge credit report? Do you have the proper homeowners insurance and know what your policy covers? Do you want to make sure you are not a victim of a scam when hiring a contractor? Did you know there are resources for homeowners that you may qualify for such as weatherization programs, rehab grants, emergency assistance, and savings match programs, utility assistance and more?
Central Jersey Housing Resource Center (CJHRC) is a non-profit HUD Housing Counseling Agency that has been a community resource providing information and free counseling (both individual and group) for almost 30 years. CJHRC has revamped their post-purchase counseling program. Their upcoming class on November 27, 2017 will focus on all the topics above but also on the importance of keeping on top of maintenance, energy-effective measures, financing home improvements, refinancing options, money management and foreclosure prevention. This class is also offered to help homeowners understand common pitfalls and learn to plan for “house emergencies.”
“Post-Purchase education and counseling is important since this type of counseling is helpful to homeowners who may not be aware of what to be careful of and what programs and services exist to help homeowners if they qualify” stated Sharon Clark CJHRC Executive Director.
