HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - A 74-year-old township is dead after a landscape mower he was repairing dropped on top of him when the cable holding the machine above him snapped, according to police.

The victim was identified as John F. Levinski of Township Line Road.

A neighbor found the man beneath the machine on Sunday and called the police at 5:11 p.m. The cable was attached to a tractor. Police say he was not breathing.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are investigating.

Responding to the incident were township police, Hillsborough Township Fire Dept. Station 36 and 377, Robert Wood Johnson ambulance and first aid and the New Jersey Medical Examiner's Office.
