NJ Audubon: Teacher-Naturalist Training
NJA Scherman Hoffman Teacher-Naturalist Training Program

Do you enjoy the outdoors? Would you like to be involved in environmental education? We are offering the opportunity to join Scherman Hoffman's environmental education team. As a Teacher-Naturalist, you would teach environmental education programs in an outdoor setting to school and scout groups, afterschool programs, children's birthday parties, summer camp, and outreach programs for adults and children. Share your enthusiasm and knowledge of the natural world with others, and have the reward of watching children learn about, and connect with, the natural world all around them.

Our training program begins Tuesday March 6, and meets Tuesday mornings, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and ends April 24 with a practical. Once you satisfactorily complete the program, you will join our staff of Teacher-Naturalists, a paid position. You will then be required to teach a pre-determined number of programs annually, including weekday, weekend, and evening programs, and summer camp. You will also be required to volunteer as a camp assistant for one week of 2018 summer camp as part of your training.

The training classes, which are free, will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Tuesday from March 6 to April 24 at Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary, 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville. Registration is required by March 2.
