NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - A group of so-called Rutgers affiliates were attacked with paintballs several blocks away from campus on Monday evening, authorities said.

The victims were walking through the area of Bristol Street between Guilden and Delafield Streets at around 6 p.m. on Feb. 12, when they were attacked with paintballs, according to a university-wide statement from the Rutgers police later that evening.

None of the victims reported any injuries or sought medical attention, according to police. The statement does not specify whether the victims were students, though the neighborhood predominantly serves as off-campus housing for students.

At the time of the attack, a dark-colored sedan with tinted windows was seen idling nearby, according to police. The vehicle, which was possibly occupied by two males, according to police, was believed by the victims to be involved with the attack.

Descriptions of the perpetrators are otherwise limited, police said.

The matter had been forwarded to the New Brunswick Police, who are asking that anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time to contact the New Brunswick Police Department Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
