PISCATAWAY, NJ – A Piscataway woman was killed in a one-car accident on Route 287 that left her passenger seriously injured early Sunday morning.

According to NJ.com, New Jersey State Police said Tamiyka N. Scott, 49 was driving southbound just after midnight when her 2003 Honda Accord left the roadway at mile marker 5.2 near Exit 5 for Stelton Road in Piscataway, striking multiple trees and overturning.

Scott was partially ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries, said police.

Her passenger, Sherine T. Rollins, 48 of Staten Island was also ejected and suffered serious injuries, they said.

State troopers responded to the scene at 12:17 a.m. Sunday, said police who did not release any other information. The accident remains under investigation.
