NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Police are searching for an individual who allegedly assaulted a member of the Rutgers community early this morning on College Avenue, according to an alert from the university.
The victim was outside a residence between Somerset and Hamilton streets at 12:45 a.m. March 8 when a “verbal dispute” occurred, according to police. Another person then assaulted that individual.
Police didn’t provide a description of the perpetrator or any details about the victim.
After the attack, the victim sought treatment at a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the alert.
The New Brunswick Police Department is investigating the incident as an aggravated assault. Anyone with information or who may have been in the area around the time of the attack should call the detective bureau at 732-745-5217.
Police recommend residents avoid walking in isolated or dark areas, remain aware of their surroundings, travel in groups at night and report suspicious activity to cops.
