Police Requesting Assistance to ID Bank Robbery Suspect

SOMERVILLE, NJ - Somerset County officials announced there is an ongoing investigation regarding the Peapack-Gladstone bank robbery that occurred yesterday afternoon. 

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Bridgewater Township Chief of Police Al Nicaretta, a press release Tuesday said.

Robertson said, on January 30, 2017, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Bridgewater Township Police responded to an alarm activation at the Peapack-Gladstone Bank, located on East Main Street in the Finderne section of Bridgewater Township.

Police reported, they met with bank employees who said an unknown male suspect approached a bank teller and handed them a note announcing the robbery. The suspect fled on foot and was last seen on Finderne Avenue. A description of the suspect was sent to surrounding law enforcement. 

According to the release, The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 5’8” – 5’10” tall, wearing blue jeans, a dark color Nike hooded sweatshirt, ski mask and red footwear. 

Robertson said, detectives from the Bridgewater Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, as well as special agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Franklin Township field office, responded to conduct the investigation. K-9 Units from Warren Township and the Bound Brook Police Departments responded to assist in the investigation.
