RARITAN TWP., NJ – Police here are searching for a 17-year-old boy who was reported missing on Wednesday.
Chase Merone was last seen Wednesday at Wawa on Route 31 here around 12:30 a.m., where he was recorded on a surveillance camera.
Raritan Township Police Captain Kevin Donovan said detectives from his department “are reaching out to everybody they think can help” locate Merone.
Chase Merone was reported missing by his father, Jonathan Merone, police said.
The report was triggered by a note Chase left behind. Chase wrote that he loves his father and stepmother, and admitted “messing up” and wanting to leave the Flemington area, according to an alert issued by police.
The note also said that he’d send his grandparents money for his phone, which he reportedly left behind at Wawa. The money would be sent after he “settled with a job,” police said.
Chase left on a long skateboard, Donovan said, and does not have a car.
Police have received three reports from the public of possible sightings of Chase, but Donovan said none could be confirmed.
Chase is 5 feet, 10 inches tall with black hair and hazel eyes. He weighs about 140 pounds.
Police are asking anyone who thinks they’ve seen Chase, or who know where he is, to contact his department at 908-782-8889. If Chase is seen outside of the Flemington area, Donovan suggests calling local police there first.
