A woman was assaulted in front of Hickman Hall on the Douglass campus in the early hours of March 14.
NEW BRUNSWICK - Rutgers University police are investigating an aggravated assault and attempted sexual assault reported to March 14 at 3:55 a.m. in front of Hickman Hall on the Douglass campus.
The victim, not affiliated with Rutgers University, reported that she was walking with a male whom she did not know in the area of Commercial Avenue and George Street.
They continued to walk together until the area of Hickman Hall, at 89 George Street
, when the victim said she was not familiar with the area. The perpetrator then knocked the victim to the ground and struck her several times in the face.
The perpetrator then touched the victim underneath her clothing while attempting to sexually assault her. The victim defended herself and the suspect ran, possibly towards Route 18. The victim refused medical attention, police said.
The perpetrator is described as a white male, approximately 20 years old, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
