NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - An affiliate of Rutgers University was mugged Monday evening on Stone Street between Easton Avenue and Sicard Street, Rutgers police said in a campus-wide statement.

The victim reportedly was talking with a man who then struck him, took items of value and fled, police said, all around 6:40 p.m.

No major injuries were reported, police said, and the victim declined medical attention at the scene.

The statement does not specify whether the victim is a Rutgers University student.

Authorities didn’t find any weapons at the scene. Descriptions of the perpetrator are limited, authorities said, beyond being a man who was last seen fleeing towards Easton Avenue.

The New Brunswick Police Department asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, to contact the Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
