BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Having completed a successful 100th anniversary celebration in 2019, the Somerset County Business Partnership is focusing on its 2020 priorities for the Somerset County business community.

Creating Vibrant Connections among public/private partners, members, and the business community at large has resulted in the Business Partnership being recognized as among the premier business advocacy organations in New Jersey.

Successes in 2019 included achievement of the highest number of members to date; new levels of collaboration with Somerset County government and community partners; receipt of an additional $128,000 3-year grant from NJ Division of Travel & Tourism; participation in the creation of the Diversity & Inclusion report; leading a statewide effort to ensure job creation and private sector investment business assistance programs; and supporting efforts to secure $122,000 in county funding to promote county amenities and experiences to the local communities.

Each year, as part of the SCBP Strategic Plan, the organization defines priorities to advance the Culture of Collabortaion that leads to a prosperous and sustainable future for Somerset County business. The seven priorities for 2020 include:

            • Advocate for better business solutions

            • Provide best-in-class business resources

            • Attract and retain a diverse talent pool

            • Promote resiliency and sustainable environmental solutions

            • Make Somerset County the healthiest in New Jersey

            • Partner with educational and worksforce organizations

            • Promote Somerset County amenities

Founded in 1919, the Somerset County Business Partnership has evolved to meet community business needs over its 100-year history, serving as Somerset County's regional Chamber of Commerce. The SCBP enjoys a unique public-private partnership with County Freeholders to also provide economic development and tourism services.

This collaboration creates a single voice for active businesses in the county, helping it to speak with a unified voice in order to advance a strategic agenda that makes Somerset County an ideal place to live, work, learn, and play in. The SCBP serves over 815 members and represents over 70,000 employees in Somerset County.
